From St. Johann in Tirol, follow the right bank of the river, first the Kitzbüheler Ache and then the smaller Reither Ache to the Sperten bridge. There you cross the Reither Ache and hike via the hamlet of Sperten and the Dorfbachweg to Oberndorf. Oberndorf had a long tradition in mining, of which the mountain chapel at the Rerobichlstraße also testifies. Whenever the forest thins out along the path to Lindern, you have wonderful views of the Kaisergebirge and the Kitzbüheler Horn. From the Reischerwirt, you walk via the Going bathing lake until you reach the Stanglwirt. There you take the pedestrian underpass and follow the hiking trail along the stream into the center of Going. The pretty village square in front of the small baroque church with the village fountain is perfect for a rest. You hike - always with a view of the impressive massif of the Wilder Kaiser - past the Astberglift until you reach Ellmau.
