The starting point is the Oberndorf municipal office. It is recommended to visit the exhibition ALFONS WALDE - Spurensuche in Oberndorf (ALFONS WALDE - Searching for Traces in Oberndorf) in the entrance area of the building before starting the tour.
The path leads from the municipal office to the Rerobichlstraße in the direction of Going. After half a kilometer you will see the stately "Bruggbachhof" on the right side, which was converted from a farm into a manor house in 1937 by order of the then owner Eugenio Lopez de Huici according to the plans of his friend and architect ALFONS WALDE. Since 1950, this estate has been owned by the Kloiber family, who had a close friendship with the famous conductor Herbert von Karajan. The maestro therefore spent many years of carefree holidays with his family at the "Bruggbachhof".
Directly opposite is the so-called "Schlosserhäusl". It is a miner's house built in wooden blocks and is reminiscent of Oberndorf's mining days. The path continues to the "Bergkapelle", which was built in the 18th century for the miners at Rerobichl (Baroque style - frescoes by Simon Benedikt Faistenberger). In this chapel dedicated to St. Nepomuk, the conductor von Karajan married his wife Eliette in 1964. Opposite the chapel, a forest path begins, on which you cross the "Kerschhagglmoos". After about 600 metres, you reach a road junction. Turn left here and walk along the swimming pool area to the "Alfons-Walde-Weg". Follow this path and then turn left onto Lindenweg, which leads to Josef-Hager-Straße and then left towards the municipal office. Shortly before you get there, there is a stone column with a plaque indicating that the birthplace of the famous painter and architect ALFONS WALDE stood here until 1972. On the opposite side of the street is the "Dorfwirt" inn, the front view of which served ALFONS WALDE as a motif for two oil paintings (Wirtshaus in Oberndorf 1931, Dorfstraße 1933).
