History-charged starting point, small mountain lakes and stunning views
The hike to Torhelm starts at the head of the valley of the Langer Grund at Tiefentalalm Lodge. This lodge was built around 1530, making it the oldest Alpine lodge in all of the Kitzbühel Alps. The rustic interior still reflects some of the living conditions on the Alpine pasture back then. There you’ll find, for example, a centuries-old stone fire pit, on which meals were cooked in the past.
The Tiefentalalm alone is already worth a visit. But those looking for true mountain bliss should continue on the way to the summit from the lodge. Across alpine meadows, past wild streams and the two Alpine lodges, Oberkaralm and Öfeleralm, it’s up Torhelm mountain. The last sections of the hiking trail lead across coarse gravel all the way to the summit. The fresh mountain air and breathtakingly beautiful vistas reward you for the efforts of the ascent.
Pure nature also on the way back! Those who still have some leftover energy can continue their round trip from the Öfeleralm via the Regenfeldalm. Right next to the hiking trail you’ll keep coming across small, crystal-clear mountain lakes. Nature there beckons to pause and enjoy in many places. Via the Ochsenschlagniederalm Alpine pasture you’ll then get back to the starting point again. A wonderful circular tour, which perfectly tops off the summit experience on Torhelm!
