You start the hike from the main square in St. Johann in Tirol through the district of Mitterndorf. At the chapel in front of the Krebsbach stream, the trail branches off to the right. Through the forest you will get up to the Aiglsau farmers and then via a narrow path up to the Vorderer Kalkstein. The tour takes you past the Leitnalm and on to the Baumoosalm. From here, a detour to the Baumooskogel is worthwhile. Once you arrive at your destination, you will be rewarded with a beautiful panorama. Steinplatte, Loferer Steinberge, Leoganger Steinberge, Kitzbüheler Horn and Wilder Kaiser frame this elevation.
The hike leads back through a wild and romantic landscape. Shortly after the forest section, those who are free from giddiness will have the opportunity to take a look down at the rugged rock faces of the "Rote Wand". At the end of the trail you hike on the forest road to the hamlet of Scheffau - the highest district of St. Johann in Tirol. The hike now takes you through a forest down to Oberhofen and from there back to the center of St. Johann in Tirol.
TIP: Take enough drinks and a snack with you. There are no catered alpine pastures on this route.
