Stripsenjoch practice via ferrata

The practice via ferrata routes on the Stripsenjoch provide 3 sun via ferrata routes. The practice via ferrata which were set up in 2008, are not far from the Stripsenjochhaus (1577 m). Get within touching distance of the Wilder Kaiser. But please be aware that many of the key sections require skill, power and courage. Each of the three via ferrata has its own high point: At the Hundskopf via ferrata there is a rope bridge between the main summit and the subsidiary summit, at the Unterer Stripsenkopf via ferrata the photogenic crossing inspires and the Oberer Stripsenkopf via ferrata is an extremely difficult ascent. Combine all three paths and you get a 160 m via ferrata tour. Be enchanted by the impressive cliffs of the Wilder Kaiser.

Starting point for the tour is the car park at the Griesner Alm in Kaiserbachtal. From there it is a hike of around 1.5 to 2 hours to the Stripsenjochhaus. From Stripsenjochhaus you walk for a few minutes to the Stripsenkopf, where you will find the first practice via ferrata route.

Hundskopf via ferrata: Use the textile rope to get to the (A) foot of the rock face. At the edge of an intersection (first A/B, then B) to an overhang (C). Steep (C) uphill into grassy terrain (A/B). On a crossing (A) and via an upswing (B/C) to where the via ferrata divides. Descend a little to a ledge (first A, then B/C) cross to the left. Steep (C/D) up the misty summit of the Hundskopf. Via a breezy two-rope bridge (B) to the exit point right at the summit. Anyone who continues climbing at the fork in the route (B/C) will come right to the exit. Proceed via a ridge to the hiking trail and continue to the next via ferrata.

Unterer Stripsenkopf via ferrata: Start (A/B) cross over slightly climbing (B). Go around a ledge (B/C) to get to a slab (B). Somewhat grassy (A/B) in a dihedral (B) and via a block (B) to the exit summit (A). Descent slightly through mountain pine to the final via ferrata route on the Stripsenjoch.

Oberer Stripsenkopf via ferrata: From the entrance, grassy (A) to the foot of the face, with a ledge (A/B). Use the pegs to get via an upswing (B/C) to the section where the via ferrata splits. Continue steeply to the left (C) on slabs (B/C) and head across these to get to the exit (B). Anyone who climbs to the right after the fork in the route will soon come to a clearly overhanging crossing (initially C/D, then D/E) - the key section. This overhang (E) does not have much grip and requires a great deal of strength. After that you reach the exit.
