KAT Walk Alpine at a glance
How can I best explore the variety of the Kitzbüheler Alpen?
The KAT Walk Alpine leads over gently grassy mountains via well-signposted routes and always with magnificent distant views over 113 kilometres from Hopfgarten to St. Ulrich im PillerseeTal - a world away from stress and hecticness, deadlines and performance pressure. Step by step the route also leads you to discover yourself. At the side of the trail are impressions and feelings, encounters with people, nature and culture and some local specialities. Prepare to be surprised! Hike through the Kitzbüheler Alpen and enjoy the unique Tyrolean mountains up close.
In both variations, the KAT Walk is signposted throughout as a red mountain hiking trail – of average difficulty – with the KAT Walk logo. Any experienced hiker used to a variety of terrain can complete it. There are no climbing sections. There is just one short section where you need to hold onto a rope on the Kitzbüheler Horn - on the stage from Kitzbühel to St. Johann. Basic mountain equipment, an appropriate physical shape and sure-footedness are required.
