Wilder Kaiser

The region, which includes the towns of St. Johann in Tirol, Oberndorf, Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf, is located at the foot of the majestic Wilder Kaiser. The Kaiser mountains are one of the most striking and most impressive mountain formations in the Alps. Enjoy a holiday in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. The Kaiser mountains in the Kitzbühel Alps are arranged in what is predominantly pure limestone rock, in the Wilder Kaiser and on both the north and south sides there is the Zahmer Kaiser which is predominantly covered by mountain pine. Both mountain chains are linked to one another via the 1580m Stripsenjoch. In total, the area spans some 20km in an east-west direction and some 14 km in a north-south direction. This yields a total service area spanning some 280 km². The highest elevation in the Wilder Kaiser is Ellmauer Halt in the town of Kufstein, at 2344 m. Aside from this one, there are some forty other summits, including many famous climbing mountains (Karlspitzen, Totenkirchl, Fleischbank, Predigtstuhl, Goinger Halt, Ackerlspitze, Maukspitze).

The Kaiserbach valley nature reserve offers unique flora and fauna over an area spanning 10,200 hectares in the summer! The impressive mountain massif of the Wilder Kaiser rises up in a breath-taking manner. From Griesenau, 5 km toll road at 1024m altitude, proceeds right in front of the impressive Kaiser mountains.
