You ought to know one thing when you start out on this adventure: Televisions and contemporary technology are deliberately renounced up here. (WLAN is of course still available here in places). It is guitars, accordions and other instruments that provide convivial entertainment. This is Alpine lodge life: Sitting cosily together in a snug, recounting adventures to one another and forging new friendships.
And hosts serve hearty Alpine lodge meals. The classic "’Brettljause’ snack platter" is a winner, as is simple, seasonal and traditional, regional cuisine. Our Alpine lodges have a role to play and even provide almost what might be described as "luxury" on the mountain. But see for yourself and select an option that suits you.
Sunrise or sunset? There is no doubt here!
The answer is: Both! Whereas in the valleys, sunrises and sunsets are for the most part nothing special, most people are amazed when they see the sun disappear behind the mountain summits. Standing on the terrace of the building, you can literally see how the shade gradually make the valleys disappear into the twilight. By contrast, way up high in the mountain lodges, a warm, orange-red, golden light ambience spreads, bringing about comforting warm feelings of happiness.
Don’t miss out on experiencing sunrise on the mountain. Getting up early is therefore twice as worthwhile: Breathing in the lovely cool, fresh mountain air and seeing how life once again moves into the land- that is pure magic.

Genuine mountain lodges can be defined as having only very limited access. For the most part the only way to get there is the traditional way, by an easy to moderate hike. And with a mountain bike you can even combine an overnight stay on the mountain with a few tours. In some parts the cable cars help to make arrival more comfortable, easier and shorter. Some Alpine lodges in Brixental Valley even provide luggage transport to the Alpine lodge. In spite of that, the proper feeling of staying the night in an Alpine lodge only really comes about when you have carried your luggage by yourself. Thank goodness the choice is up to you as to which route you choose.

There is of course a ‘light’ version of an overnight stay on the mountain - classic accommodation on the mountain that you can easily get to by car. The majority are in somewhat lower levels, yet offer similar offers with comparable experiences: Good food, sunrises and sunsets, cosiness, etc...
