There was a time when Tyrol's wealth was the economic engine of Europe and the world. Metals and especially silver were mined deep in the Alps. Thousands of people flocked to Schwaz and the region around Schwaz. In 1521, the Fuggers took over the exploitation of silver mining in Schwaz/Tyrol. This marked the beginning of a new European era. This formative year was made into a cinema documentary with numerous Tyrolean acting favourites such as Martin Leutgeb, Roland Silbernagl and Kristina Sprenger. The film looks at 1521 in 12 months. A year that brings the people and fates of the Fuggers' empire back to life on film.
Tickets costing just € 4 per person are available from the Kirchberg travel agency and at the box office.
