Start from the Wochenbrunner Alm in Ellmau, from where a forest road leads up towards the Gaudeamushütte. Always follow the signs in the direction of Ellmauer Tor. At first, the hiking trail leads through a mountain pine field and a little later this leads into a wide scree field. Arrived at the Ellmauer Tor, the mountain tour leads east across a meadow scree field and with a short, easy climb up to the summit of the Hintere Goinger Halt. The descent from the summit is first identical to the Ellmauer Tor. From there you descend via the Steinerne Rinne and the Egger-Steig into the valley Kaiserbachtal. The tour leads across the notable peaks Fleischbank and Totenkirchl. Arrived at the Wildanger, a well-maintained hiking trail leads down to the Griesner Alm.
From here, the hiking trail follows the Kaiserbachtal stream out to the hamlet of Griesenau, where you take the post bus back to St. Johann in Tirol.
