This tour starts in the centre of St. Johann in Tirol. You cycle along the Großache river to Kirchdorf. In the village centre, your route leads past the parish church with its late Gothic west tower in the direction of Gasteig. You will need some strength in your calves for the ascent to the small hamlet with the Wilder Käser cheese dairy and many places to stop for refreshments. An e-bike makes the ascent much easier. From Gasteig, the route continues along the country road to Griesenau without any significant gradients. Turn left here and follow the Kaiserbachtal toll road. Near the Griesner Alm car park, you can park your bike at the designated Hike & Bike station.
Your hike starts from here. After the Griesner Alm car park, a wooden footbridge leads over the Kaisertalbach stream. Through sparse deciduous forests and across wide alpine pastures, always below the imposing cliffs of the Wilder Kaiser, you hike up to the Stripsenjochhaus (1577 m). Soon after the Tavonaro cross, the route follows a short, rope-secured path along a rock face.On this part of the hike, you now climb the Stripsenkopf (1807 m) on a black mountain trail. From the viewing pavilion, there are phenomenal views of the Wilder Kaiser, from the Karlspitze to the Totenkirchl, and as far as Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria. Next you reach the Feldberg at 1,813 metres above sea level. A narrow, rather steep mountain path leads you down via the Hintere Ranggenalm to the Griesner Alm.
From the Griesner Alm you cycle back to Griesenau and as far as Gasteig. There you stay on the country road. After a few kilometres, you reach the centre of St. Johann in Tirol again via the Huberhöhe.
