Hundreds of bonfires are lit on the mountains
Every year, when the summer solstice is celebrated, the mountains in the St. Johann in Tirol region are ablaze. The peaks of the Wilder Kaiser, Kalkstein, Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge and the Kitzbüheler Horn are lit up for the "Feia brenna" (burning fire), as it is known here. Hundreds of mountain fires are lit on the mountains. This spectacle is both mystical and magical. The fires are lit to strengthen the power of the sun and keep evil away from humans and animals.
