Concert: Gartmayer | McPhee | Edwards | Portugal

In November 2023, this spectacular all-star lineup was already on the Muku concert calendar, but Corona put a last-minute stop to our plans. Now we are rescheduling the concert: the legendary saxophonist Joe McPhee has amazed us several times with his intimate, rough, and yet velvety tone; together with his duo partner on double bass, John Edwards, he can also be heard on the LP Tell me how long has Trane been gone (live at artacts '19). The incomparable drummer Mariá Portugal recently performed here with her Erosao Percussion Trio, previously in the ensemble of the dynamic bass clarinetist Susanna Gartmayer – this concert was celebrated with great enthusiasm, by the way. A quartet full of spirituality and joy of life is to be expected!
