Tyrolean cuisine interpreted in a contemporary way
In May 2016, the Blumschein family took over the inn and hotel Post in the center of St. Johann, Tyrol. With great sensitivity she has transformed the newly adapted, over 721 old historic building into a meeting place with heart and soul for both holidaymakers and locals. According to the motto “We give people joy”, the entire Post team around the innkeepers Sigrid and Maximilian Blumschein lovingly look after the guests.
Secret ingredients:
passion and innovation The Wirtshaus Post is characterized by authentic Tyrolean dishes that are interpreted in a contemporary way. Benjamin Leitner belongs to the young – “wild” – generation of chefs who know how to enliven traditional pub fare with modern accents. The menu ranges from traditional classics such as Grandma Resi's Erdäpfelblattln and beef goulash from Brunnhof in St. Johann to innovative creations such as Tiroler Surf & Turf (a curried beef sausage with trout fillet and fries). Depending on the season, the regional dishes are complemented by seasonal specialties. The inn is a member of the KochArt Association. This collective from the Kitzbühel Alps focuses on the use of local quality products. A particular focus is on rediscovering forgotten specialties of regional and Austrian cuisine. Gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan dishes are also offered.
Award-winning tavern
The four charming Tyrolean parlors of the Post inn radiate a pleasant warmth with their pine wood. The attention to detail that runs through the culinary offerings and the furnishings, as well as the warmth of the entire post team, make the inn a pleasant place to stay. Thanks to personal recommendations from the sommelier and innkeeper, Maximilian Blumschein, even discerning wine connoisseurs will get their money's worth. The efforts to modernize the classic tavern entrance are not only appreciated by the positive feedback from guests. In autumn 2018, Falstaff became aware of the dynamic Blumschein gastronomy family and awarded the Wirtshaus Post with a fork. The Gault Millau rating followed for the first time in 2019. The inn achieved 12.5 out of 20 points in 2024 and thus earned a toque.
