#1 Wildseelodersee

Picture perfect on a nice day!

The idyllic mountain lake at 2,000 metres altitude is not a PillerseeTal landmark for nothing. The Wildseeloderhaus with its picturesque location and the mountain lake, which reflects the imposing Loferer Steinberge in its crystal clear waters on beautiful still days, make for a true picture perfect setting.

How to get there?
Wildseelodersee can be reached in an hour-long hike from Lärchfilzkogel (Fieberbrunn).

Epic tip:
A specially epic experience can be gained if you stay the night at Wildseeloderhaus and take a glance at dawn over the crystal-clear lake.

#2 Summit of Marokka

On the "bucket list" of all mountain lovers!

A narrow and partially secured meadow path leads to the well-hidden neighbouring summit of Henne. It is the diverse mountain backdrop to the huge rocky peak, above all, that makes the location such an epic spot!

How to get there?
The summit of Marokka can either be reached via an interesting fixed-route climbing route or via a normal route (number 6) from Wildselodersee. Be careful in wet conditions! Anyone who wants can continue their tour to the summit of Henne. This is just a stone's throw from the summit of Marokka, after all.

Epic tip:
On the descent you pass Wildseelodersee, which is known for its unique scenery. You can therefore kill two birds with one stone!

#3 The Jakobskreuz

The beacon on the Buchensteinwand

For several years a summit cross has throned over the Buchensteinwand that is just as tall as the statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro at 30 metres. Since its construction in 2014, it has been one of the most photographed features of the region. There is a certain spot near the Jakobskreuz, that stuns even the most experienced landscape photographers.

How to get there?
It's not far, around 10 minutes away from the cross on the way to the west in the direction of the reservoir.

Epic tip:
An unforgettable experience is provided by this spot at sunset as the Jakobskreuz and the surrounding mountain landscape start to glow in the red evening sun.

#4 Spielberg

In the face of the Steinberge

In this rather challenging tour to one of the most striking summits in the region, you might just get to see some marmots and chamois. The spectacular summit panorama on the top of the grassy mountain extends in good weather all the way from the Loferer & Leoganger Steinberge and the Wilder Kaiser via the Hohe Tauern and even to the Berchtesgaden Alps.

How to get there?
The summit of Spielberghorn is best reached via the Eiserne Hand guesthouse in Fieberbrunn.

Epic tip:
Sunrise! In late summer it is worth waking up early to marvel at the unique scenery around the Steinberge at dawn. It is a great idea to combine a hike with a night's stay at the Spielberghaus.

#5 Summit of Steinplatte

Distant views, views right down and a summit experience

This hat-trick of delights awaits you at the Steinplatte in Waidring. You can walk onto a viewing platform that hovers 70 metres over the chasm. In the form of a sea fan coral, it provides you with spectacular views right down and breathtaking views. It is just around a half hour's walk from here to the next epic spot - the summit of Steinplatte.

How to get there?
The platform is located in Triassic Park from the Steinplatte cable car company. This can also be visited as part of a hike to the summit of Steinberg.

Epic tip:
The summit of Steinplatte seems like a totally different world within the lush grassy mountains with its imposing summit cross and interesting boulder formations. The views of the mighty Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge plus the Kaiser Mountains are just fascinating.
