Brixental Mountain Lights
Every year, over 50,000 torchlights light up Brixental Valley, with lots of very different pictures and motifs on the mountain slopes.
With ‘Brixental Mountain Lights’, summer is celebrated the traditional way in the towns of Kirchberg in Tirol, Brixen im Thale, Westendorf, Hopfgarten and Itter: On 19th August thousands of burning torchlights light up the night and the surrounding mountains.
When dusk approaches in Brixental Valley, spectators are provided a flaming spectacle: Meanwhile, on the impressive mountain slopes in Brixental Valley, over 50,000 torchlights create impressive fire images, for instance the Music Lyra, racing skiers and our farmers’ scythes and rakes. Every year, the ‘mountain lights’ entrance locals and guests afresh, when clubs, landlords and institutions in Brixental Valley mount their symbols, emblems and lettering on the freshly cut ‘natural screens’. In the evening these works of art are set alight, transforming the valley and the mountains into a flickering starry sky. An attractive programme of supporting events, with Mountain Lights parties and lift openings in the evening, complete this unique experience.
