The "Brixentaler Bergleuchten" is a traditional way of celebrating summer in the towns of Hopfgarten, Itter, Kirchberg in Tirol, Brixen im Thale and Westendorf: Thousands of burning torches light up the night and the surrounding mountains.
As dusk falls, spectators are treated to a fascinating spectacle: over 50,000 torches form impressive fire images on the mountain slopes of the Brixental Valley. In the evening, these works of art are lit by local associations and transform the valley and mountains into a sparkling starry sky.
At around 9.30 pm, the local clubs light their symbols.
