Tour information

Stage 3: From Fieberbrunn to the Wildseelodersee lake

From the centre of Fieberbrunn, the route leads to the Streuböden valley station before heading up to the Lärchfilzhochalm via a valley cut, the Krottenweg. Here the hiking area becomes wide again. Large mountain farms and serviced huts are accessed via a forest road that leads up to the Wildalm.
Now the final ascent begins via a path up to the Wildseelodersee lake, the next highlight of the WaiWi. The shingle-covered mountain hut is already visible from below and awakens the anticipation of Tyrolean cosiness! The higher you get, the wider the view. Wilder Kaiser, Leoganger and Loferer Steinberge mountains, the peaks of Wildseeloder and Henne. On the way up, your gaze repeatedly falls on the right-hand side, the northern slope of the Wildseeloder. In winter, the world's best freeriders actually show off their skiing skills here as part of the Freeride World Tour (the only stop in German-speaking countries). On the last few metres along the trail, the Wildseeloderhaus is already very close and you can see the small chapel to the left of it. Up there it ‘appears’, the Wildseelodersee! Deep black-blue in colour, it lies nestled between Wildseeloder and Henne. According to legend, dairymen lived here in sacrilege and abundance and were punished by flooding. Far down in the Hörndlinger Graben, you can still hear the cries of the drowned at a small waterfall - the screaming well. In the small rowing boat moored at the jetty, you can explore every corner of the lake on a tour. At the end of the third day, you can look down on Fieberbrunn, the Buchensteinwand with the Jakobskreuz and the ascent to the Wildseelodersee and look forward to culinary delights and an overnight stay in the Wildseeloderhaus.
