Toll road in Waidring

The mountain road up to Steinplatte serves as a starting point for numerous hikes in summer as well as providing a link to the Waidring Steinplatte ski area. The toll road has two lanes and is wide enough to allow even large buses to travel with no difficulties. At the end of the road there is a large free car park available. From here there are a lot of hiking options in summer, such as the roughly one-hour hike up to Triassic Park or the longer hike of around five hours out to Fellhorn.

Fees

A toll must be paid for the road up to the Steinplatte both in summer and winter. The toll is €10.00 per vehicle, no matter the number of passengers. There is a free car park at the end of the toll road.

  • The toll costs a uniform € 10 per vehicle - in summer and winter. No toll is charged for bicycles. In winter, the toll is included in a valid lift ticket.

  • The mountain road is approx. 4.5 km long and has a gradient of 14 %.
    To avoid overheating of the brakes when going downhill, the use of the engine brake is recommended.

  • Yes, the road has two lanes and is wide enough for motorhomes and large buses to drive up. Please note the gradient of 14 %!

  • At the end of the toll road there is a sufficiently large car park available free of charge.

  • Yes, at the end of the toll road right next to the barrier at the Steinplatte car park - where the road towards the Stallenalm begins - there is a public toilet which is maintained and cleaned by the lift company. This toilet is open around the clock.
