World-class sportspeople from PillerseeTal

It is not just in casual and grassroots sport that PillerseeTal shines. With its numerous world-class athletes, the region is a breeding ground for top level sport. Along with Alpine ski stars Manuel Feller and Niklas Köck, the top biathletes Dominik Landertinger and Felix Leitner are also from PillerseeTal. The range of talent from PillerseeTal is up there with the best of them in international sport and shows that the region has a unique record of producing cool and down-to-earth world-class athletes. Thanks to ideal training facilities, perfect infrastructure and very dependable snow PillerseeTal has made a name for itself in Austria and beyond for its wealth of top sportspeople.

Dominik Landertinger | Biathlon

The world-class biathlete Dominik Landertinger is from the small resort of Hochfilzen in PillerseeTal. He began at an early age to develop a passion for cross-country skiing at 1,000 metres altitude, and first tried biathlon in 1998.

His greatest successes to date are winning the Gold Medal in the mass start at the 2009 Biathlon World Championship, the silver medal in the relay at the 2010 Olympic Games, silver in the sprint and bronze in the relay at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games as well as a Silver Medal at the World Championships in Oslo and a World Championships bronze medal in 2020 in Antholz.

In April 2020, Dominik ended his competitive career as the most successful biathlete in Austria. He lives with his family in Fieberbrunn.

Manuel Feller | Alpine skiing

Austrian ski racer Manuel Feller comes from Fieberbrunn, the biggest resort in PillerseeTal. As one of the young guns in the Austrian skiing team, Manuel is always right in the mix for honours in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines.

The young Tyrolean is always going right at the limit and excites with his bold style - which is not for spectators with weak nerves.

Among his greatest successes so far are the silver medal in slalom at the Alpine ski World Cup in St. Moritz in 2017, second place at the giant slalom World Cup in Garmisch in 2018 as well as second place in the slalom World Cup in Sölden and a second place at the slalom World Cup in Wengen (both in 2019).

The exceptional talent is sure to enjoy more great successes in the future and to thrill international TV audiences.

Felix Leitner | Biathlon

Felix Leitner, a biathlete born in Mils bei Hall, has made his home since 2018 in the biathlon El Dorado of Hochfilzen - and therefore has everything he could want for training right by his front door.

Felix has plenty of successes already despite his young age: as a three-time junior World Champion in 2015 and 2016 as well as a European Champion in Oslo in 2018!

The exceptional talent is sure to take part in lots of thrilling contests and celebrate further successes in future.

Niklas Köck | Alpine skiing

The big young Austrian ski talent competes in the speed group of the national team and comes from the small holiday resort of St. Jakob in Haus.

The speedster therefore has numerous top ski areas right by him and ideal conditions for training. Right by his front door is the Buchensteinwand ski area, while in the neighbouring resort of Waidring there is the popular Steinplatte ski area and Fieberbrunn has the attraction of the coolest ski resort in Austria, the Ski circus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn with its top slopes and speed courses.

In the European Cup, Niklas has already shone with numerous podium finishes, and there can be plenty more expected of him in the World Cup in the coming years.
