That was the Woodstock Academy 2021

A review of a brilliant, musical week!

The first Woodstock Academy in the Kitzbüheler Alpen was ingenious, brilliantly musical, fabulously varied and magnificently united. From 22nd to 29th August 2021, this new training format combined music and friendship, passion and emotions. We look back on this unforgettable week at the first Woodstock Academy.

Alphorn-Workshop at the Seminaralm at Hochbrixen

Together instead of alone

Over 250 participants and more than 50 lecturers were present at 86 different workshops. Of course, participants were free to choose from the courses offered. Topics such as the alphorn, various wind instruments, percussion, breathing, reed adjustment work for clarinets, a conductor's workshop and mental coaching periods were on the programme. From Monday to Friday, they played, rehearsed and practised together. In between, in the afternoons and evenings, it was time to enjoy the daily social programmes - be it in the mountain huts, the event halls or the mountain villages.

Opening concert & regular musicians "Stammtisch"

What better way to start a musical week than with an opening evening with the Original Woodstock musicians on Sunday evening in the arena365 in Kirchberg. Matthias Schorn, the artistic director, led the evening in a lively manner. A perfect way to get in the mood for the week together.

Only one day later - the next highlight: the regular musicians "Stammtisch" at the Lifthotel Aschaber. Lecturers and participants not only got to know each other, but also played music together right from the start initiating a beautiful evening. Whether music from Tanzlmusi formations or brass band classics - there was something for everyone: "Böhmische Liebe", "ABBA Gold", the "Rainer Marsch" or "Dem Land Tirol die Treue". The regular musicians "Stammtisch" was THE opportunity to get to know each other, to exchange ideas and to make joint plans for the week.

Extra classy side events

On the mountain. In the valley. In the villages. Simply everywhere.

In addition to all the workshops, courses and teaching sessions, the common event was at the top of the agenda. Every day a new musical experience. Or even several. Whether it was the daily dose of mountain hut music in the various rustic mountain huts of the Brixen Valley, the alphorn course on the alpine pastures or a musical hike on the "Streif" ski run with ski legend Stephan Eberharter every aspect was covered. And if that still wasn't enough, we celebrated with the VoixxBradlern at the Mittwochsfestl in Brixen, listened to numerous "walking acts" at the Schau Zuichi market in Westendorf or visited the music cabaret at the AAART Foundation. Either way: The common event finally culminated in the final Woodstock Night in Kirchberg - an evening that will surely be remembered forever by all music lovers.

It went so well...

... it definitely deserves to be repeated!

After such an unforgettable week and so much enthusiastic feedback, there's no way out of it. We definitely have to and will repeat the Woodstock Academy.
What remains now is a week full of memories, full of instructive insights and new friendships, the knowledge that music connects and unites, the certainty that you grow together - as a society, as a musician, as a person. Woodstock Academy 2021 taught us all that. We want to experience all of this again next year. So mark your calendars now for 2022 (21st to 28th of August 2022) and keep up to date on the Woodstock Academy homepage!
