Safety on the mountains pastures

The mountains are safe and ideal for nature lovers of all ages. However, there are a few rules you should follow to ensure you have an unforgettable holiday in the Alps.
MoreHere in the Brixental you can spend the perfect holiday with your four-legged friend in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. Public transport
Dogs are allowed on our public transport and can be carried free of charge on buses. A ticket must be purchased for your dog on trains. Small dogs can be transported in a carrier, larger dogs must be kept on a lead and muzzled.
Dogs & Mountain railways
Why not take your dog for a ride on the mountain railways and explore the beautiful landscape of the Brixental? You can do this mostly free of charge on our cable cars in Kirchberg, Brixen & Westendorf with a season ticket or cable car adventure card. Dogs must be kept on a lead in the cable car area and must wear a muzzle if necessary.
Linen duty
In general, there is plenty of space on our trails for your four-legged friend to run free. However, in certain areas, such as built-up areas (town centres), playgrounds, nurseries and schools, public transport and public places, dogs must be kept on a lead and muzzled. Some municipalities have additional rules, which should be checked directly with the municipality.
Dog waste bags
The breathtaking nature and mountain scenery of the Brixental is our greatest asset. As a responsible dog owner, you can also help to keep our environment clean by disposing of dog waste properly. Dog waste bag dispensers and bins are regularly available along our many walking and hiking trails. In the region there is a legal obligation to clean up after your dog, and this applies to all dogs, everywhere, at all times.
