The initiative "Netzwerk Handwerk" aims to keep traditional and local crafts alive, develop, design and impart them. Educational initiatives can carry crafts successfully into the future by means of  basic approaches such as collaborating with designers and creatives, new cooperations, by arousing the enthusiasm for crafts in young people, support their talents and use tools, techniques and materials of the 21st century. Processes of consciousness for value and perspectives of craftmanship and crafting design have to be initiated, supported and brought  to craftsmen, young people and the common public by means of special educational programmes.
