Tour information

We begin this tour in the centre of Westendorf, heading off to the district of Feichten.  At the end of this area, we continue straight ahead where otherwise the asphalt road would lead downhill.  To our left, we pass a big, beautiful farm before reaching a meadow path.  Further on, the path meanders through a forest eventually developing into a hiking trail.  At a fork in the trail, keep to the left following the directions for the “Thumerhof”, “Hohe Salve”.  This steeper hiking trail merges into the asphalt road at “Klöblhof”.  Taking a welcome rest on the bench here, enjoy the beautiful view of the Windau valley, Hopfgarten, Kitzbühel Alps… Continuing on our way, we follow the road downhill for a short distance. At the next fork, remain to the left, uphill, where we pass the Alpenschule (Alpine school), arriving at the end of the road at the “Rantschhof”.  From here we hike along a steep path, at the end of which is yet another farm (“Hölzl”).  Following the road we arrive again at a junction.  To continue straight ahead, we would arrive at the mountain hut “Oberkaslach” and then ultimately return to the valley – Brixen im Thale.  However, we branch off to the left and walk along to the end of this road where a small path merges from the right, bringing us to the gondola station in Hochbrixen and Filzalm Lake – a beautiful area of relaxation.  Whether you prefer to “kneipp”, swim or just relax – there’s something suitable for everyone.   A stop at the cosy Filzalm is also perfect here.  Our hike continues behind the Filzalm where a slightly ascending trail takes us to the Kälbersalvenalm, passing the Jordan chapel and a spring enroute.  We walk between the barn and the hut, and then follow the forest road.  After approx. 10 minutes, a trail branches off to the left which ends at the “Ledererhof” / “Thumerhof” farms. Alternatively, we can remain on the forest road as this then merges with the Salvenberger road – this route is however a longer route.  We walk at our ease into the valley, through the hamlet Moosen where we arrive at the main road.  Crossing this and then through the railway underpass, we follow the footpath leading back to centre of Westendorf.
