Sports Cross-Country Ski Trail Kitzbühel / Kirchberg

Characteristics: medium/difficult route with several possible variations – depending on snow conditions.  Beautiful landscape with views of the concentrated Kitzbühel mountains’ prominence: to the North, the Wilder Kaiser mountain range (2,344m), to the East, the Kitzbüheler Horn (2,000m), to the South, the Hahnenkamm (1,712m) boasting the famous downhill course “the Streif” and the Big Rettenstein (2,362m).  Route: from the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course over beautiful, hilly terrain to the Reith ski lifts close to the village centre and then return to the golf course.  Note: this sports cross-country ski trail has evolved into THE cross-country ski trail of Kitzbühel in recent years.  Skaters and classic style skiers, both tourists and locals, thoroughly enjoy the trail between the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course and the village centre.  The route is slightly hilly so when the snow conditions are suitable, it is possible to choose from various, more challenging options.  Overall, the trail is also ideal for athletic cross-country skiers.  Kitzbühel Ski Club’s (K.S.C.) junior talents, as well as the local cross-country ski professionals, David and Benjamin Kreiner (Nordic Combination), also train on this sports trail.  The snow guarantee is supported by the production of artificial snow and therefore the sports trail is available for use daily from December through to the end of March.  A sections of the sports trail at the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course (approx. 2.5 km) is flood-lit daily from dusk until 9:30 p.m.!  Parking facilities are available at the Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith golf course and also at the Reith ski lifts. Use of the cross-country ski trails and parking is free-of-charge.
