Route 297 leads from Westendorf via Bahnhofstrasse to the district of “Moosen”. From now on, the road along the Salvenberg meanders steadily uphill. Passing the Alpenschule, we come to a car barrier (at an altitude of approx. 1,150m) after a sharp turn left. We cycle around this and after a short distance the asphalt road changes into a gravelled mountain trail. After a few serpentine bends we reach a beautiful, embedded reservoir. A short stop with a little tour around the lake is worthwhile, for the beautiful view alone. Now we continue uphill towards the Kälbersalvenalm. Shortly below the Alpine pasture buildings we remain straight ahead / left on the road which takes us below the Salvensee Lake thus bypassing the pasture. After a fairly steep, short ascent we come to the highest point on our tour, below the Foisching lift mountain station. Now we turn left, staying along a beautiful Alpine path to the Gasthof Rigi. This is the perfect place for a comfortable, well-deserved stop. Connection possibilities to tours 268 and 269.
Please note: this tour is permanently on south-facing slopes - therefore often very hot and sunny!
