a new church was built in Gothic style. 18th. In the 19th century, the church was rebuilt and the interior
of the church was completely baroqueized. In 1977/80 the Kirchberg Church was renovated and enlarged
according to the plans of the world-famous Tyrolean architect Prof. Clemens Holzmeister. On the outer wall of the tower is a large painting
of the Madonna by Kirchberg church painter Michael Lackner. There is a nice legend about the church:
The church was originally to be built in the place where today the Bechlschmied department store is located.
Before the roof was covered with wooden shingles, pigeons brought these shingles to the mountain
(the present location of the church). The people of Kirchberg saw in it a sign of God and built the church on its present site.
